The Best Locations for Fishing Bass Fish in the US
Whether solitary, with friends or with the family – Fishing is one of America’s favorite pastime sports. Amongst the variety of species, the black bass fish family is one of the most popular for game fishing, and largemouth bass in particular.
Here are 4 places to fish for Black Basses on your next fishing trip:
Sam Rayburn Reservoir
This 114,000-acre manmade lake is located in southeast Texas. It receives its waters from the Angelina River and is abundant with Largemouth Bass due to submerged aquatic vegetation, standing timber, and flooded terrestrial vegetation. Anglers are successful at catching largemouth year-round and the fish can be found mostly in the shallow areas of the reservoir and the vegetation edges.
St. Lawrence River.
The St. Lawrence River is a huge body of water between Canada and the U.S.A. The river is 700 miles long and flows between Lake Ontario and the Atlantic Ocean. It is home to many warm water fish but is best known for epic Smallmouth Bass catches around the islands, bays and off points.
Okeechobee Lake
Okeechobee Lake in Florida is considered to be the 8th largest freshwater lake in the U.S.A. It is very popular for fishing and attracts anglers of all ages. The lake is full of vegetation and in many areas is very shallow – the perfect habitat for a Largemouth bass which thrives there. Okeechobee Lake fishing is best done in a boat or a kayak and for first time fishermen it’s recommended to be using a professional fishing guide.
Clear lake
This one is quite special. Not only is it the largest freshwater lake in California and the “bass capital of the west” it is also the oldest lake in North America dating back 2.5 million years. Clear Lake is a wonderful habitat to Largemouth Bass with warm shallow water and shrubbery on its edges providing perfect shade and shelter to the fish which are considered to be two thirds of the local fish population. Clear lake is also a very popular resort to a variety of water sports such as wakeboarding and water skiing.
